Job Description

MAMI Mumbai Film Festival is looking for a full-time, on-site Accountant based in Mumbai. The role involves managing day-to-day accounting operations, including recording financial transactions, maintaining ledgers, preparing vouchers, and ensuring accurate and timely entries in accounting software.

 

Responsibilities

Assisting with budgeting and cost tracking for festival events and the year-round programmes, monitoring payables and receivables, reconciling bank statements, and supporting payroll processing. 

Preparing periodic financial reports, assist with audits, ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors on finance-related matters.

Maintaining organised financial documentation and contributing to process improvements in financial systems and controls.

 

Qualifications

Strong accounting and bookkeeping skills, including general ledger management, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, or similar) and MS Excel for financial analysis and reporting.

Knowledge of budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting to support events and programme-related expenditures.

Understanding of statutory compliance, including taxation, invoicing, and documentation requirements relevant to Indian regulations.

Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with clear, professional communication skills for working with internal teams and external partners.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field; professional certifications are an advantage.

Prior experience in non-profits organisations or arts and culture institutions is beneficial.
