Mumbai Academy of Moving Image invites applicants to take part in the Young Critics Lab 2020.
1 - Description
The Young Critics Lab (YCL) was set up to foster young writing talent in the field of cinema. At MAMI, we believe that good cinema can only thrive in an environment where good journalism and film criticism are nurtured. YCL is our initiative to find the next Pauline Kael and Roger Ebert. It is an ambitious dream but frankly, we got tired of reading a lot of what passes for film journalism nowadays, and decided to do something about it.
We want to do our bit to equip young minds from all over India with the tools to write and talk about cinema in a way that is relevant, knowledgeable, insightful and personal. The medium is irrelevant. Be it YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, traditional print journalism or an online portal, MAMI's goal is to nurture young voices today so they may shape the landscape of film journalism tomorrow.
