Synopsis

The search for the enigmatic healer Akbar brings his younger sibling Mulla on a turbulent journey from the islands of Lakshadweep to the decadent underbelly of Mumbai.

 

Director's Bio

Geetu Mohandas founded the production house Unplugged, and produced her directorial debut short film Are You Listening? (2009). The film premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and subsequently won three international awards for Best Short Fiction as well as the National Award in India. Her first feature Liars Dice (2013) received the Hubert Bals Fund for script and project development and was selected in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition at Sundance in 2014. Liar's Dice went on to win six major international awards across the world and two National Awards. It was also India’s official entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards. Her second feature, The Elder One is mentored by the Sundance Film Lab. Mohandas also won the Global Filmmaking Award at Sundance Film Festival in 2016.
