Writer-director Bi Gan was born in Kaili City, Guizhou Province, People’s Republic of China, in 1989. His critically acclaimed debut feature, Kaili Blues, won the Best Emerging Director Award at the 68th Locarno International Film Festival. His second feature, Long Day’s Journey Into Night, made its premiere in Un Certain Regard at the 71st Cannes Film Festival.
