Director's Bio

Lee Chang-dong made his debut with Green Fish (1997), a Korean noir that was an exploration of genre conventions and the real world. In his next, Peppermint Candy, he experimented with a narrative using flashbacks and followed it up with Oasis (2002), where he questioned the nature of true communication between people. It was with these two films that he received critical acclaim, popular success, and international accolades.
